✅ Why 304-grade steel for the cutlery
304 (18/8) is the grade used in quality kitchenware. It resists rust, does not react with curd, lemon or tomato, and does not stain with haldi. The edges are rounded and buffed smooth, and the silicone handles are soft in a toddler's fist.
✅ Soft on gums and new teeth
The silicone is soft enough to be gentle on teething gums if your baby chews a rim or a handle (they will), and thick enough for daily use.
✅ Hot and cold
The silicone is rated from -20°C to 200°C, so the same pieces go from the freezer to the microwave and the steam steriliser. The steel spoon and fork are the only pieces that do not go in the microwave.

🔒 HOW TO GET STRONG SUCTION
Suction needs a smooth, clean surface to create a seal.
✅ Works best on: IKEA Antilop high chair trays, glass tables, granite countertops, smooth quartz.
❌ Will not stick to: wooden tables, textured plastic, scratched surfaces or tablecloths. Air escapes through the texture and breaks the seal.
1️⃣ Clean: make sure the tray and the suction base are crumb-free.
2️⃣ Dampen: wipe the suction base with a slightly damp cloth (water only).
3️⃣ Press: push down firmly on the centre to push the air out. You should feel it grip.
To release the plate, lift the small tab on the edge of its suction base.
🟡 HALDI (TURMERIC) STAINS
Turmeric is a strong natural dye and silicone can pick up its colour. The tint is cosmetic and does not affect how the pieces work. Wash them normally, then leave them in direct sunlight for 3 to 4 hours. UV light breaks down the turmeric pigment and the stain fades.
The steel spoon and fork heads do not take up turmeric at all; they wipe clean.
🧼 SOAP SMELL
Silicone can pick up scent from strongly fragranced dish soaps (common with Vim, Pril and similar). Use a mild, fragrance-free soap. If a smell has already set in, boil the silicone pieces in water with 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda for 10 to 15 minutes. The smell should fade.
🥤 CUP CLEANING
Take the cup apart into cup, lid and straw after every use. Wash the straw with a thin straw brush and let all three parts air-dry completely before putting them back together.

Q: "My baby is 6 months old. Can I use everything in this bundle right now?"
A: The suction plate and training cup are suitable from 6 months — start with those. The stainless steel spoon and fork are recommended from 9 months onwards. At 6 months, babies are in the very early stages of solid food introduction and usually do better with soft silicone starter spoons. The steel utensils have polished, rounded edges but are firmer than silicone — so we suggest waiting until 9 months before introducing them. You will get full use of all four pieces within a few months of buying.
Q: "What exactly is in the box?"
A: 1 silicone suction plate with 4 compartments, 1 training cup with straw and lid (200 ml), 1 stainless steel spoon with silicone handle, 1 stainless steel fork with silicone handle. Four items in total.
Q: "Is this actually dishwasher suitable — or is that just something brands say?"
A: All four items are top-rack dishwasher suitable. The 304-grade steel heads resist rust and discolouration in a dishwasher, and the food-grade silicone stays stable at dishwasher temperatures. For the training cup straw, we recommend occasionally using a bottle brush as well, since the narrow tube benefits from a physical scrub in addition to a
dishwasher cycle.
Q: "The training cup drips when my baby tips it. Is it broken?"
A: No — this is a deliberate trade-off. The training cup is free-flow by design, with no internal valve, so your baby controls the flow with their lips instead of sucking against a valve. Some dripping in the first days is normal while your baby learns, and some liquid can spill if the cup lands sideways or the lid is pressed. It is not a defect.
Q: "Is the steel actually good quality? I have seen cheap baby spoons in local markets for ₹50."
A: The difference is the steel grade. Local market spoons are often 202-grade steel, which has lower nickel content and is more prone to rust. The Cubkins spoon and fork use 304-grade (18/8) stainless steel — the grade used in food-processing equipment and quality kitchenware. It does not impart taste, resists rust and is suitable for steam sterilising.
